Translation
Translate Russian has access to translators worldwide, who only translate into their mother tongue and who can localise your translation, ensuring mistakes are avoided. For each assignment you will have a Project Manager assigned to you, who will keep you up to date on your project, ensuring your deadlines are met and your document is allocated to an appropriately qualified and experienced translator.
Translate Russian recognises the importance of communication and reaching beyond the language barrier. Accurate translations allow for effective communication across the globe. We offer clients a prompt and reliable translation service by exploiting the benefits of the internet and related software.
Our translations are driven by clear commercial needs; precise delivery of key brand-related messages and a localized product with time, quality and cost considered. Please see our Services page for full range of services.
Two types of translation we offer are:
"For-Publication Translation" is a service required when you're sending or presenting documents to a client, to senior management in your own company, publishing, or whenever else you really need to give a good impression. "For-publication" translations are clear, well-written, idiomatic and stylish and make up the majority of our translation work. These are proofread by an independant proofreader and where required will use the services of an editor.
"For-Information Translation" is a draft translation and is suitable for situations when you need to know what a document means but don't require it in a perfect format. Our translators produce a translation which is accurate but unpolished. Because the document will not undergo our usual final proofreading stage, we can offer special discounts off our pricing. Please note however, some types of text, particularly technical texts, are unsuitable for "for-information" translation.
Our Translators:
a) Have at least two references for previous projects
b) Translate only into their native language
c) Are appropriately qualified in their technical areas
d) Have a translation or language degree
e) Are members of a recognised translation association
f) Have working industry experience for the material they translate
g) Have at least 3 years experience as full-time professional translator
Although they are accredited members of UK, European or North American translator associations, this is not a guarantee of acceptance onto our database. All new applicants are asked to carry out a series of translation tests and are then trialled with different types of assignment.
At the outset of a contract, the Project Manager will establish Key Performance Indicators to:
1) Achieve the greatest degree of accuracy
2) Process assignments to ensure efficiency
3) Track progress of assignments to ensure deadlines are met
4) Record client feedback
5) Check correct formats and delivery procedures are adhered to
Specialist translations require specialist translators
Our team of dedicated language professionals is made up of fully qualified and highly experienced translators. Translators are carefully selected for each project according to their relevant experience and skill set translating into their mother tongue only.
Our success depends on the capabilities of our team of translators. Our reliable team are assessed regularly according to the quality and timely delivery of their work which in turn allows Translate Russian to maintain its strong track record of both fast and accurate turnarounds.
A quality translation is paramount. A careful translator selection process is at the centre our quality control process. We attribute the high quality of our translations to the ability of our Project Managers to match each job to the translator with the most relevant experience.
We work with our clients every step of the way from the analysis of the source text at conception through the successful delivery of a product which meets with your expectations. Terminology databases are paramount to translation quality, Translate Russian uses Translation Memory (TM) software which allows us to store each translation we do for you. We place emphasis on building and validating client glossaries which are then rigorously applied to all projects for the same client to ensure consistency of style and to save valuable time and money. We then analyse each translation we carry out for you to see whether it contains any text which we have translated for you on a previous occasion. We use any relevant text from previous translations, ensuring that your new translation is consistent with any previous translation.
All texts are proofread by professional proofreaders. As with our translators, the Project Managers select proofreaders because of their specific knowledge of the text's subject matter as well as their translation and general language skills. This allows us to check the translation for accuracy and litery style before it is delivered.
Every translation is rated by the proofreader against a range of criteria; this allows us to build up a picture of the performance of every translator over time. Translators also receive feedback from the proofreader on every project.
The style, formatting and accuracy of each text is checked as a final measure prior to delivery. Our technology allows us to work within a range of file types without changing the format of your original document. This means that when your translation is returned to you, it will be in the same format as your original. The only thing we have changed is the language.
Translation Process
1. Receipt of source text - Receive files from the client, formatting requirements, delivery date
2. Examination of source text - Checking of text for terms which need clarification with the client and leverage memory
3. Translation - Document is translated by a professional translator
4. In-house checking - Translation is checked for formatting errors and omissions
5. Independent proofreading - The translation is checked by an independent proofreader for style and accuracy
6. Final review following proofreading - All issues are resolved following the independent proofreading
7. Delivery to client - The final files returned to the client in the agreed format and within the agreed deadline
For large projects, involving multiple languages Translate Russian can provide a centralized service with automation of labour intensive aspects of the process (text extraction, copy and paste processes), allowing us to apply your budget to quality management rather than expensive production tasks.
Arts and cultural texts also require creative writing skills, which, naturally, extends to the translator and the proofreader. Translated texts convey not only the meaning of the source text, but also read with the equivalent style and expression in the target language.
When is a good translation not a good translation?
Getting critical terminology right is one of the most difficult aspects of any translation project. Failure to use the right terminology can have serious consequences, causing confusion, damage to valuable brands and delays in critical projects.
Getting terminology right involves two steps:
• Making sure the translated term is correct in the context of the specific
industrial sector, target group or market.
• Ensuring consistency with previous texts, maintaining the use of the
selected term across different documents for different departments in
the organization.
